Synopsis: Interviews with leading figures in Soviet ballet and specially filmed excerpts from the Bolshoi's current repertoire. Film of rehearsals in Moscow and sequences filmed at the Moscow Choreographic Institute. The Bolshoi's Artistic Director and Chief Choreographer Yuri Grigorovich appears on television for the first time and Galina Ulanova talks about her career with the Company. Messerer, Plisetskaya, Vassiliev, Maximova and Lavrovsky add their reminiscences. Also featured are members of the present Company - Natalya Bessmertnova, Ludmilla Semenyaka, Irek Mukhamedov and Andris Liepa. There are extracts from `Giselle', `Don Quixote', `Ivan the Terrible, `Raymondo' and `The Seagull'.
